Finally an “adult,” 18 you say? That has nothing to do with my big special day.
Lay down the red carpet, bow down to me. Fore today is my day and forever shall be.
Clear your schedules and get ready to party, today is my day and it’s sure to be hearty.
Shower me with gifts and food galore, we can make a stack over there on the floor.
Pile it high, to the ceiling they go. Be careful, just place, please do not throw.
I want it piled high, like the girls I throw at cheer. Better make sure, it’s higher than last year.
What do I want? It’s simple, you see. A book, maybe two, under a big apple tree.
A day full of relaxation and conquering the world. Painting my nails and getting my hair curled.
I’ll go out to eat and then go celebrate. I’ll do something unexpected, none could anticipate.
Take in the orphans, that literally have nothing, get them what they want, I’m not even bluffing.
Don’t believe me? I don’t care. You can stand back and stare.
I’ll be celebrating my day, with a million that matter. You can sit there and get even fatter.
Think that was harsh? Or even kind of mean? Well you can complain until your face turns green.
There are so many, out there unknown, that don’t have anything and are completely alone.
Do you think about those on YOUR special day? Probably not, just about getting paid.
Today in America, we are so self absorbed. We don’t even realize what we have formed.
We’ve formed all of these lies, to comfort ourselves, we ignore the truth and place it on shelves.
This needs to end. This terrible thing. We need to yell out, share our voice, and sing.
Sing to the heavens of these lies that we know. The truth that we know we just have to show.
Destroy what is fake, and bid them good day. Make people see, they’re like a toupee.
On my special day, I want things to change. Show the love that we have and with each other exchange.
